There are two D/O classes that are in Acadis. These two classes go together. You need to be available for both classes. Classes will be held in Battle Ground Fire Station One.
Fire – Driver/Operator General – DOG0126
Brief DescriptionTo provide a firefighter with Driver Operator knowledge/skills to meet the min. JPRs in NFPA 1002.Full DescriptionThis course is designed to train firefighting driver/operators with the knowledge and skills to meet the minimum job performance requirements as outlined in NFPA 1002. This course prepares the firefighter to assume responsibility as a fire apparatus operator. It also, prepares the firefighter to understand the science of fluids at rest and in motion, and the physical relationships between water and the mechanisms for moving it to achieve desired fire flows. The program concentrates on numerical data and mathematical calculations. It also includes the study of the practices and procedures involved in the safe and effective operation of today’s fire apparatus. Additionally, this course is also designed for Officers who are responsible for the administration of vehicle operations. This course covers common driving hazards, vehicle maintenance and inspections, and driver’s training.

Resources RequiredIn order to test for this course you must meet the prerequisite of being a First Class Firefighter or Firefighter II for 1 year and carry a valid driver’s license. If you do not meet these prerequisites you will not be issued a testing ID, and not allowed to test until you do meet these prerequisites. It is suggested that any apparatus your department has, which the driver operator may use, to be at the course when the students are completing their practical skills so they may be tested on the specific apparatus they may use. Students shall understand and follow all instructions pertaining to operational safety, as stated by instructors or as written in course materials. Instructors and students shall be mindful of safety at all times. Conduct judged to be unsafe shall be grounds for dismissal from the course.

Brief DescriptionProvides Mobile Water Supply operators knowledge/skills to meet the min. JPRs in NFPA 1002.
Full DescriptionThe Driver Operator Mobile Water Supply (H2O) course is to provide operators with the knowledge and skills to meet the minimum job performance requirements outlined in NFPA 1002: Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications. This course is designed for fire apparatus drivers who will be operating a vehicle designed primarily for transporting (pickup, transporting, delivering) water to fire emergency scenes to be applied by other vehicles or pumping equipment. Students will learn the basics of mobile water supply operations, fill site establishment, dump site establishment, and the operation of mobile water supply apparatus. Students will be required to operate mobile water supply apparatus in a mobile water supply operation under mock emergency conditions. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to operate a mobile water supply apparatus during emergency situations. You will have the opportunity to practice apparatus positioning, drafting, and water shuttle operations. Candidates must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to function safely and effectively as a Mobile Water Supply (H2O) operator. Students will be required to operate pumper apparatus during a final practical skills testing. Students shall understand and follow all instructions pertaining to operational safety, as stated by instructors or as written in course materials. Instructors and students shall be mindful of safety at all times. Conduct judged to be unsafe shall be grounds for dismissal from the course.
